Tend Skin The Skin Care Solution Review

This post contains affiliate links.

We talk a lot about epilators, waxing, laser hair removal, ingrown hairs etc on this site so it would make sense that we reviewed a product that seems to be connected to all of these things in some way – Tend Skin: The Skin Care Solution.

The Skin Care Solution is a product that is advertised as being able to help reduce redness, razor burn and the symptoms of ingrown hairs.

It can supposedly help to achieve smoother results if applied both before and after shaving, waxing, electrolysis, and epilating.

Pros & Cons of Tend Skin Care Solution:

Sound too good to be true? Before we dive into the details lets have a look at some quick pros and cons:

The Good
+ Alleviates redness
+ Quick to absorb
+ Anti-inflammatory
+ Extremely popular
+ Safe for men and women
+ Not tested on animals
The Bad
– Fairly strong scent
– A lot of isopropyl alcohol (can dry the skin)

Tend Skin Ingredients – What’s in the Bottle?

tend skin the skin care solution reviewIsopropyl alcohol

As a rule, it is generally regarded that skincare products with alcohol in them are bad.

So we were a little disappointed to see this on the ingredients list as alcohol can be helpful for those with oily skin due to its degreasing and quick drying nature, but is definitely bad in the long term.

The benefit of alcohol based products such as this is that the skin quickly dries up resulting in a matte finish. This is great for those of us with oilier-than-we’d-like skin, but in actual fact the alcohol ends up making our skin oilier over time!

There are fattier alcohols that are less irritating to the skin, but unfortunately isopropyl alcohol is not one of them.

Butylene glycol

When butylene glycol is applied to skin, it breaks down into ‘gamma-hydroxybutric acid’ – a naturally occurring compound found in the body.

It is often used in skincare products as a texture enhancer.

If you have extremely sensitive skin then you might want to avoid this ingredient, but other than that its pretty safe and isn’t considered bad for you.

Acetysalicylic acid (Aspirin)

Aspirin has been, for a long time now, a common anti-inflammatory and pain relieving medicine.

Only recently has it been discovered that it works well in skincare products. The way this happens is that aspirin breaks down into salycic acid which then affects the skin with an exfoliating effect.

Even though this claim has been somewhat disputed, most people still respond well to it and report great results.

Cyclomethicone

This is another texturising chemical similar to Butylene glycol, and is included to help the skin feel smooth and nourished instead of dry.

Cyclomethicone is also used in products and has been shown to rejuvenate and repair skin where acne scars have been, and is considered a good moisturiser. (By the way, microdermabrasion is also a great method of reducing problematic acne scars.)

Again if you have sensitive skin please try these products on a small area before committing fully as you might find that they result in some irritation.

Glycerin

Glycerin is a compound that is present in all natural fats and is skin replenishing. This is because it is a substance naturally found in the skin and is amazing at combating dryness.

As long as the product doesn’t contain too much glycerin this is a really great ingredient to have on the list.

Diglycerin

This substance will dissolve into water and alcohol and is generally used to moisturise and soften your skin.

Polysorbate 80

Polysorbate 80 is mainly used to help all the other ingredients dissolve in each other to form a cohesive liquid and it is both CIR and FDA approved.

So what does that all mean?

Despite the inclusion of alcohol, the other ingredients are pretty run of the mill and aren’t going to harm you.

People do see amazing results with this stuff so if the alcohol doesn’t bother you then you should be completely fine.

Do remember that you should try this product on a small patch of skin first before using it all over as you don’t want to discover the hard way that your skin reacts badly with it!

How & where should I use Tend skin care solution?

Short answer: everywhere!

The Skin Care Solution can be used all over the body including:

  • Hands and arms
  • Underarms
  • Face (chin, jawline, upper lip)
  • Head
  • Neck & back of neck
  • Chest & stomach
  • Legs
  • Groin/bikini area

Basically wherever you can remove hair, you can use Tend Skin Solution.

How should I use it?

The best way to use this is both before and after your hair removal routine.

tend skin lotion reviews

Step 1: Exfoliation – this is not a necessary step but exfoliation is great for removing any dead skin cells that are resting on the surface to allow for the best results.

Step 2: Apply the Skin Care Solution – it works almost like a shaving gel even if you’re not shaving. The lotion will moisturise and prepare your skin for hair removal.

Step 3: Remove hair – be it shaving, epilating, waxing or laser.

Step 4: Apply the Skin Care Solution again – this will help to reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs, though we also recommend moisturising too as sometimes this stuff can dry out your skin.

Final Thoughts on Tend Skin Liquid

Really our one problem with this product is the inclusion of alcohol.

Apart from that it has provided spectacular results to a very large amount of people and there are many who swear by it.

It lasts forever, prevents razor burn, soothes irritated skin, helps to avoid ingrown hairs, and has many other applications.

We definitely recommend this product but also recommend finding a good moisturiser to go along with it.
