Design of Emjoi Soft Caress Epilator
Why gold?
Gold and silver are known to be very non-reactive and therefore are far less likely to irritate the skin than other metals.
Its actually an added bonus that Emjoi used 24k gold over 18k because the higher the karat quality, the less reactive metal present.
So the main reason for using gold tweezers is to appeal to those with sensitive skin or who would prefer the most hygienic device possible. This is the only epilator we’re aware of that has these tweezers so its a really unique feature (not to mention pretty!).
Patented Pain Reduction Technology
Emjoi is a company that prides itself on its patented pain reduction technology.
This is all down to the design and layout of the tweezers and how they interact with each other and the skin.
They are well known for having the least painful epilators on the market so you can expect the same results here. We can’t guarantee that there won’t be any pain because there will, but using an epilator such as this along with our 9 Tips to Reduce Epilation Pain you should be able to reduce it considerably even if you have very sensitive skin.
Contoured Design
The Emjoi Soft Caress is small and easy to handle.
It fits nice and snug in the palm of your hand and has ‘soft touch grips’ on either side of it to make sure you never slip while epilating.
At first we thought it was a weird shape but once you get used to it you realise that the shape really helps when you’re epilating at odd angles.
The epilator head is also a certain shape (related to the patented pain reduction point above) so that whatever angle you use it at or if you’re epilating along a curvy part of your body it is designed to ‘hug your curves’ and ensure you are getting the optimal results at all times.
Attachments
Continuing along the pain reduction line, inside the box you will also get a “Massaging Finger Attachment”.
It looks a bit like a comb that attaches to the head of the epilator and partially thats what it is. It is supposed to both lift up the hairs to ensure they get picked up by the tweezers but also to massage the skin to reduce pain.
In all honesty we didn’t feel a difference but of course results may vary between people.
Usage & Impressions of Emjoi Epilator
Where can the Emjoi Soft Caress be used?
Everywhere!
The Emjoi Soft Caress technically can be used wherever due to its low tweezer count and small head. This means that it is suitable for smaller more sensitive areas (such as the chin, upper lip, and bikini line) as well as the larger ones.
We think this is the perfect epilator for underarms and your bikini area.
Its not fantastic on larger areas such as the legs due to the fact that it is so small and has so few tweezers. It will work but it will just take longer than other epilators would.
Battery of the Epilator
One of our favourite things about this epilator is its ability to be used corded and cordless.
It means that you don’t have to wait for it to be fully charged before using it, as long as you plug it in.
If you do want to use it cordless, however, it is advised to let the battery charge for a good 8-16 hours before using it. This way you can be sure that it will be performing at its best. This may seem like an incredibly long time (especially considering the Braun Silk Epil 9 recharges in around an hour) and the battery will only last you about 30 minutes once fully charged, but using an epilator means that you’ll have to remove hair less and less over time so this shouldn’t be a deal breaker.
The option to use it cordless is really appreciated because the cord can get in the way depending on where on your body you are epilating.
2 Speeds Setting of the Epilator
If you’re a first time epilator, the 2 speed settings should help to reduce your fear of pain.
As with anything, start on the lowest and slowest setting to see how you go. If you are doing alright with the pain and seem to be getting the hairs out then give the second speed setting a go.
We recommend using setting 1 for smaller and more sensitive areas (face, bikini area, armpits) and setting 2 for larger areas (legs) as you’ll need the extra efficiency to get the job done.
If you want some tips about epilating in general and getting the most out of your epilator check out our Guide to Perfect Epilation.
Loofah!
Well I guess it’s a nice touch that they include one of these. As you know (if you read the above guide!) exfoliation and epilating go hand in hand so be sure to make good use of the free loofah.
Final Thoughts on Emjoi Soft Caress
The Emjoi Soft Caress overall is a great little epilator.
It would be nice if the battery was a bit stronger or maybe if they had a version of this one with more tweezers so that it could be more effective on larger areas of the body, but for everything else it really is a nice piece of equipment.
The little touches emphasising hygiene and pain reduction push this over the top for us, making it one of our favourites.
