What’s The Best Drugstore Epilator?

This post contains affiliate links.

Epilators come in all shapes and sizes. Some are suited to sensitive areas, and some to whole body treatment. You can buy expensive epilators and professional epilators, cheap epilators and drugtore epilators. Even epilators with 24k gold plated tweezers!

Ultimately they all perform pretty much the same function, just at different levels of effectiveness.

We’ve made a list of what we feel are the best drugstore epilators. We’ll take a look at a variety of epilators but ultimately will focus on multi-functional epilators. If you’re looking for an epilator for more sensitive areas: check out this article.

The 5 Best Drugstore Epilators

Philips Satinelle

best drugstore epilatorThe Philips Satinelle is probably the most affordable epilator out there if you’re looking for a good price to quality ratio.

It’s often on sale and is consistently the best seller on Amazon.

This epilator is small in size which means its easy to use and navigate around your body wherever you feel you want to use it, its very easily washable and will last you for a long time.

The 21 tweezers on this device can pick up hairs as small as 0.5mm, so as soon as you see a hair poking through the skin you can epilate it right away and avoid getting stubble!

I especially like this one because its corded. Battery can be a big downfall of top epilators but if its corded you can go for as long as you need to (as long as you’re near a socket)

Braun Silk Epil 9

best drugstore epilatorsIt’s safe to say that this is Braun’s best seller and most competent epilator.

Its the latest in their line of full body epilators (they recently released the Braun 830 which is specifically designed for facial hair use and is the world’s first dual epilator-facial cleanser) and is definitely their most efficient offering yet.

It has 40 close-grip tweezers which, as with the Philips, can pick up hairs as small as 0.5mm.

The Silk Epil 9 differs from the Philips in that it’s cordless and is ‘wet & dry’. This means that you’re likely to get about 40 mins – 1 hour of use before it dies, but you can use it in the shower.

A lot of people worry about epilation pain, this is one way to significantly reduce it. The warm water of a shower or a bath soothes the skin and makes your hair softer, meaning less pain.

Panasonic ES-ED90

best drugstore epilatorAnother best seller and my favorite all-rounder. The reason I like this epilator so much is because it has everything you need in an epilator as well as some things that are unnecessary, but awesome!

48 tweezers make this even more efficient than the Silk Epil 7, it is also a wet & dry epilator and boasts a usage time longer than an hour.

This makes it a pretty hard contender to beat.

On top of all this it has a bunch of great caps to make epilating in certain areas easier (for example the sensitive area cap, beginner cap, shaver cap etc). It even has a ‘foot care head’.

The foot care head was kind of a surprise to me but actually gets a lot of use. It’s really durable and does a great job. All the dry skin on your feet can be buffered away more easily than using a pumice stone.

A strange addition but actually a very nice surprise.

Emjoi Emagine

best drugstore epilatorLike the Philips Satinelle, the Emjoi Emagine is corded.

The difference here is that the tweezer count is far higher than the Satinelle at 72. This is the highest of any epilator on the market.

If you’re looking for efficiency then its hard to beat 72 tweezers. The head is also quite large and so is perfect for larger areas such as the legs or arms.

The Emagine is the first epilator in the world to have ‘Silver Ion’ technology. This means that it is also one of the cleanest epilators around. It is hypoallergenic and the silver is a strong deterrent against possible infections.

As you’re working with 72 tweezers you’ll most certainly experience some pain the first time round, but remember that it only gets better!

Philips Satin Perfect

best drugstore epilatorTalking about cleanliness of epilators, I thought i’d include the Satin Perfect. It is hypoallergenic and is made to be easily cleaned with the minimal chances of infection or irritation.

The head is easily washable and instead of tweezers it has ceramic discs.

Not only is is super clean, its an extremely capable epilator too. It has an extra wide head to allow for fast and efficient epilation of legs and larger surface areas.

It has 4 caps including a shaver and a skin massager. The skin massager is great if you’re worried about pain, it really takes the focus off the hair pulling.

The Satin Perfect is cordless and has a nice contoured head that easily conforms to the shape of your body.
