Are Hair Removal Creams Safe?

This post contains affiliate links.

Hair removal creams are an under-utilized hair removal method that can be spectacularly effective if used in the right way.

Many people tend to steer clear of hair removal cream due to the idea that they are chemical and that dissolving hair with this stuff could also be bad for your skin.

In truth, these creams contain chemicals that break down keratin bonds. Keratin is present in both hair and skin.

BUT…

The main thing to remember when using these creams is that if you follow the instructions you should be fine. As long as the cream isn’t left on your skin for too long, you shouldn’t experience any negative effects.

As I couldn’t find anything like it online, here’s my list of the safest hair removal creams you can buy:

Best 3 Safe Hair Removal Creams:

Veet Gel Hair Remover Cream

are hair removal creams safeVeet Gel Hair Remover Cream is the top selling body and face hair removal cream on Amazon.

It’s a hard to beat product that includes a number of natural ingredients such as aloe vera and certain hydrating agents. This actually does a lot to neutralize the detrimental effects of the creams to your skin.

Veet is a very well known and trusted company so my advice when using this is to follow the instructions as closely as you can. That way you are much less likely to do any damage.

I’d recommend this product for use on your legs as its brilliant at it, but also for facial use or underarms its good too. Remember not to rub the cream in!

Olay Smooth Finish Hair Remover Kit

are hair removal creams safeSo the Olay Smooth Finish Hair Remover Kit is really mostly for facial use. It’s a fantastic cream and of course you may be just looking for a safe hair removal cream for your unwanted facial hair, so I added it to the list.

I think something cool about this cream is that Olay have designed a routine to use that maximises hair loss and skin care. Essentially what you do is apply a skin guarding balm and then add the remover cream after. Let about 8 minutes pass and then wash it all off!

Another reason I added this to the list is because of the skin protector balm. If you’re a little worried still about the chemicals in hair remover creams and the damage it may do to your skin, then this will hopefully put your mind at ease!

Moom Organic Hair Removal Kit

are hair removal creams safeFinally I want to recommend the Moom Organic Hair Remover. The reason this made the list is because it is one of the most natural hair removal products i’ve found.

The ingredients in the cream are probably the least likely to irritate or damage your skin out of any hair removal cream you can buy.

It’s USDA certified organic and only contains sugar, water, lemon juice, chamomile and tea tree oil.

Moom is also an all-rounder meaning it’s effective for anywhere on your body including your face.

Keratin bonds are not broken. Keratin is a protein containing disulphide bridges. That is the bond which is broken 🙂 Besides that, nice article

I was a killer for hair removal creams but I found that they would never take all the hair off…so I would have tards of long armpit hair in the middle of short stubs. In addition to that, they had started to burn my skin and it was very uncomfortable.
Hair creams tend to also have a very strong unpleasant scent
Of late, many brands have tried to do away with the scent by adding sweet smelling fragrances but it hasn’t been too helpful.

Right now, I am still exploring other hair methods and that’s how I landed on this site.
